The first deliverable of the SEA is the Scoping Report, issued in February 2006. The report was prepared for the purpose of consultation and setting the scope of the strategic assessment. It sets the context for the SEA, provides details on the baseline data that has been collated for the SEA, and outlines the method that will be used to strategically assess the potential effects of the development of marine renewables on the environment.

Open to all, the consultation sought comments on:

  • The appropriateness of the proposed scope of the SEA. (This will help ensure that all issues of potential concern are considered.)
  • The appropriateness of the proposed assessment methodology.
  • Any additional sources of relevant information that could be used to inform the assessment.

To meet the requirements of the SEA Directive, the Scoping Report was made available for consultation for a period of 5 weeks. The closing date for all responses to the scoping consultation was 31 March 2006. For a list of the key points raised during this consultation, see Section A3 of the full Environmental Report.

You can obtain a copy of the report via the links below. It is presented in 2 volumes: Volume 1 is the main report and Volume 2 presents a suite of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) maps.

The main deliverable of the SEA is the full Environmental Report. This was published on 30 March 2007
